Privacy policy

Fam Jam is a small app Ben Eliason runs so our family can plan meals, activities and gatherings together. It isn't a business. This page explains what it stores about you and what it does with it.
What we collect
- Your account: your name, email address and, if you use email sign-in, your password. Passwords are stored only as a one-way hash, so nobody can read them.
- From Google, if you sign in with Google: your name, email address and profile photo. Nothing else from your Google account.
- Your profile: the avatar you pick (photo, emoji or initials) and its color.
- What you add: the plans and gatherings you create or host, their times, places and notes, who's in, invites you send or answer, and your comments.
- Cookies: one to keep you signed in and one to remember your light or dark theme. No tracking or advertising cookies.
How we use it
Only to run Fam Jam: signing you in, showing your name and avatar to your family, and showing the plans you're part of. There are no ads and no analytics, and we never sell or rent your information.
Who can see it
- Everything you add, along with your name and avatar, is visible to the members of your family group.
- Fam Jam runs on Railway, which hosts the app and its database and stores the data on our behalf.
- When you search for a place, what you type is sent to Google Maps to suggest matches, and Google's privacy policy applies to that search. Opening a place or directions takes you to Google Maps.
- We'll share information if the law requires it, and not otherwise.
Google user data
Fam Jam's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Your Google name, email and photo are used only to sign you in and show you to your family. They're never shared with anyone else or used for ads.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your information while you have an account. To delete your account, or to get a copy of what Fam Jam stores about you, email benjamineliason@gmail.com. We'll delete your account and personal information within 30 days. You can also remove Fam Jam's access to your Google account at any time from your Google account settings.
Kids
Fam Jam is made for families, kids included. Children under 13 should only use it with a parent's permission, and a parent can ask us to delete their child's account at any time.
Security
Fam Jam only works over HTTPS and passwords are hashed. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable care to protect your information.
Changes and questions
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date at the top. Questions? Email benjamineliason@gmail.com.
